meeting Olympia

Jess hasn't found reading the easiest thing to master but she does love to write.
I remember loving to type on my dad's typewriter when I was little - it made me feel important.  And though I'm not ready to let her use my dad's typewriter yet (which I inherited last year) I was over joyed to find this beauty all negelected in a charity shop. After a bit of love and some WD40 Olympia (for that is her name) was ready to go.

Already there is the sound of typewriter pounding coming from her room as she writes her latest masterpiece. I think they are going to be very happy together.

  1. This is brilliant! What a find in your charity shop. I used to love bashing away on my Grandma's typewriter which she used to write the parish newsletter on. Olympia is a brilliant name. I hope your daughter has lots of fun with it/her!

  2. I think it's a 'her'. She seems like she has a lot to say anyway... ;)

  3. I think my Mom still has her old one from when she was a secretary and I have been meaning to ask her to pull it out for us, thanks for the reminder! I love the sound of the clicking keys. What a wonderful gift and I love the letter left on there, it makes it so much more theirs.

  4. What a great find! I think this is, by far, one of the best gifts you can give your child. Encouraging them to write is awesome! And that little note that was left was great! Thanks for sharing this.
