spinning the sky ~ part two

Apologies for the spinning related (some would say obsessed) post that follows.....

From this...

... to this...

.. and this.

Now I know its far from perfect -  I can see all the mistakes but I don't care, it's mine!!! And the goddess of charity shops (for she does exist) blessed me as I found a niddy noddy in the window of a charity shop for 50p! One persons weird bit of wood is another persons very useful spinning thing...

  1. It's lovely! I can't believe you found that niddy noddy so cheap. I'm trying to get the Hubs to make me one. Great job! Keep spinning!

  2. It's so beautiful! Well done - the colours are amazing, just like clouds in a really bright blue sky. x

    1. Thank you! Now, what am I going to knit with it? Mr Oak Before Ash thinks I'm just adding to the (considerable) yarn stash.... He's probably right....

  3. Beautiful, love the colours and the yarn is lovely handspun yarn.
How great to find a niddy noddy in a charity shop, I bet the staff wondered what it was! Similarly I picked up a spinning wheel in a charity shop - they "thought" it was for spinning but weren't sure.

Lovely to see you join us over on Spinspiration, look forward to reading more of your spinning journey.

    1. Thank you - you're very kind. I have 3 portland fleeces to blend with some merino and a new drum carder - I'm almost over excited!

    2. Oh lovely - I spun some Portland fleece last year and still have some ready to card - it's lovely to spin. And a drum carder is great, opens up lots of blending possibilities.
      What wheel do you have?

    3. The nice man at Herrings said it was a 'Camelot' - I got it from a lady who was giving up and I think she bought it in the 60s.

  4. Thanks for joining spinspiration. I diagnose you have contracted the spinning bug! That yarn is scrummy.

    1. Yes, I have the bug! Along with the clay in the house there's a whole lot of crafting going on!

  5. What a lovely woolen cloud, I like your yarn! My dad surprised me with a Niddy noddy made from old floor boards. I love finding things in thrift shops and bringing them back to life!

    1. Funny enough I was going to make one as they were so expensive - and then what-da-ya know!? It was sitting there in the window waiting for someone to know what it was... I couldn't stop smiling all day! Thank you for stopping by!

  6. The roving and the batts look as beautiful as the yarn does. What do you plan to do with it?

    1. I'm not sure, probably a shawl (I've got the shawl bug too) Is it wrong to like the process of spinning? It's very meditative...
