the year is turning...
... so fast! Last night we had our first frost - I ran round the garden in the dark covering up the tomato plants (those last green tomatoes are going turn red!) There are baskets of apples everywhere waiting to be turned into something lovely. Mornings are bright and just a bit colder. The woodshed is full, the winter duvets are on the beds and the chimney is swept.
Inside the last of the (red) tomatoes have found their way into tomato and chilli relish, the windfall marmalade is made and the gorgeous Raspberry Fudge Brownie recipe from The Simple Things has been made with the blackberries from the wild patch behind my shed.
We're ready (I think) for dark nights, cooking on the fire and being inside...

I am so READY! I love all the prep and settling in that happens...just love it!
ReplyDeleteI love snuggling down for autumn... I'm kinda looking forward to the hour changing too but I'll be bored of the dark by January!
DeleteYes, we are ready too! I love the turning of the seasons. It's cold here - the heating has gone on now, and the quilts on the beds. I love it, can you tell? x
ReplyDeleteYay! Extra quilts = instant snuggly karma! Then there's eating lots of home made soup and stews, walking on frosty days in piles of leaves I could go on (and probably will!)
DeleteThis looks so lovely. We don't have a garden, but my neighbor alwys gives me a lot form theirs so there is a fair amount of canning going on in my kitchen these days as well! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteNeighbours are great aren't they? We have a neighbour with 2 apple trees who hate apples, they're always very kind and let us help ourselves.
Deletelove that basket of apples. it looks so autumn-y and perfect :)
