getting ready

Remember I said we were a house of poorly? Oh my, it seemed to go on for ever - tag team poorly...

Anyway I'm convinced we are coming out the other side with the help of lots of rest, sleep, manuka honey and ice cream....

The mince pies are made, ready in the freezer to be popped in the oven whenever the craving to eat huge amounts of mince pies occurs.

Glogg extract made from lots of our summer blackcurrants - trying a Scandinavian spin on mulled wine this year.

Printing cards with the children - more printing ink is on them than the cards but they're looking pretty... (stamps from the wonderful Yellow Owl Workshop)

Being homeward bound has meant plenty of time to make and create. We've been getting ready in a calm way. One week left of school and then family time - I can't wait!

How are you getting ready?

  1. Hmmm...Glogg...never heard of that. Sounds interesting. Hope everyone is on the mend. I can't imagine the whole calm way. Must be nice. We are in "a day late and a dollar short mode." Get plenty of rest!!

    1. Glogg is Swedish / Norwegian / Danish mulled wine - I got the recipe from Scandinavian Christmas by Trine Hahnemann. Can't wait to try it but I'm exercising some restraint (until the weekend anyway...)

  2. Being ill is pants any time of the year - it's good you're on the other side of it.

Love your mince pie makings - they look delicious.

    1. Thank you! I'm hoping the small people have finished being poorly but it seems not...

  3. I am a huge fan of mince pie and those look delicious. My one pie is in the freezer also and I wish I had thought of making small ones so all that joy would last longer.

    1. ahhh, I've discover that the lots of very small ones mean that everyone tries to cram as many down as possible... bless 'em...

  4. I'm glad to hear you are all better - sounds like you've all been ill. Ill, but productive, it would seem! We are getting there with Christmas prep, just one present left to make then a LOT of wrapping to do.

I saw a recipe in a magazine recently for Glogg and was very taken with it, it sounds wonderful. x

    1. Love making - not so keen on the wrapping... I still have loads to make though. The knitting I thought I had almost finished requires crochet and beading. Good job I love my mum very much!
